Employee SMS Notifications.

Last Updated: August 2026

West Coast Ambulance sends operational text messages to its own employees. This page describes that program, including who receives messages, how employees consent to receive them, and how an employee stops them.

Who Receives Messages

Current West Coast Ambulance employees — EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers — who have provided a mobile number and given consent.

We do not send text messages to patients, to the general public, or to anyone who is not an employee.

How Consent Is Given

Employees opt in by texting the word JOIN to 855-635-5553 from the mobile number they want alerts sent to. We do not text employees to ask them to join — the employee sends the first message. Employees are told about the program by their supervisor and during onboarding.

Providing a mobile number is voluntary and is not a condition of employment. Employees may withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP.

What We Send

  • Open shift offers the employee may claim
  • Confirmation of a shift assignment or change
  • Reminders that a required certification or licence is approaching expiry

We do not send marketing or promotional messages.

Message Frequency and Cost

Message frequency varies with operational needs. Message and data rates may apply, depending on the employee's mobile plan.

How to Stop

Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact your dispatch supervisor. Unsubscribing from text messages does not affect employment or scheduling by other means.

Employees may re-subscribe at any time by texting JOIN again to 855-635-5553.
